Arsenal star not happy being played on the wing

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has told Arsene Wenger that he isn’t happy playing out of position and wants to return to playing in the centre of the pitch.

In recent weeks, the Welshman has been used as a winger in Wenger‘s 4-3-3 formation, but the midfielder doesn’t feel like the club are getting the best out of him when he’s deployed out wide.

Arsenal like to play with three centre-midfielders and then two wingers and one striker, but with Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil taking up the three central roles, it leaves Ramsey with either playing on the wing, or sitting on the bench.

Ramsey’s form last season showed what he can produce when playing as a box-to-box midfielder, but with the emergence of Coquelin, the positions have shifted over the season.

However, Ramsey has voiced his opinion to Wenger and has told him how he’s not happy being played out of position, especially when the club have natural wingers sitting on the bench.

Ramsey Reveals Displeasure

‘I’m not hiding away from it, I want to be in the middle,’ he told the Daily Mirror.

‘I’ve had chats with the manager about it. I showed at Manchester United what I’m capable of doing when I go into the middle of the park.

‘But the manager said he wants me to do a job out there for the moment and obviously I’ll do that for him. But I prefer to play in the middle.

‘We have wingers on the bench, but he’s still picking me out wide.’

Barcelona Interest

The 24-year-old has been recently linked with a shock move to FC Barcelona with the Catalan club prepared to pay up to £50million once their transfer embargo has been lifted.
