Midfielder is a free agent after Arsenal release

Former-Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby is on the brink of joining Ligue 1 side Marseille, according to reports.

The Frenchman, who was released by The Gunners this summer after failing to prove his fitness, was close to joining West Bromwich Albion after initially passing a medical at The Hawthorns.

However, talks with Tony Pulis and co. broke down at the last minute, leaving Diaby club-less and still in the market.

Arsenal Release/Marseille Move

The 29-year-old is looking to kick-start his career after years and years of injury problems, and despite Arsenal and Arsene Wenger standing by his side during that time, it was finally decided to release him.

According to reports, Diaby is now in France in order to complete a free transfer to Marseille after completing a medical in his home country.

It’s believed the midfielder will be on a pay-as-you-play deal which will expire in 2017.

A formal announcement is expected to be made later today if all things get pushed over the line.
