AC Milan step up interest in Illarramendi

AC Milan are preparing to step up their interest in Asier Illarramendi. The midfielder is also a target for both Liverpool and Arsenal.

Milan currently have Chelsea’s Marco van Ginkel on loan in the midfield position but he could be set to return to Stamford Bridge soon, due to the fact he is failing to secure much action at the San Siro.

If he does return to the Premier League, it would mean there is a gap in Filippo Inzaghi’s squad, a gap which could be filled by Illarramendi, someone who Inzaghi has been tracking for quite some time.

The Spanish international has fallen out of favour at Real Madrid following the signing of Toni Kroos and it means he could be available to sign on a permanent basis in January.

However, the Italian side face competition from Arsenal and Liverpool who are also keen on a move for the midfielder. Despite this additional interest, reports are suggesting that Inzaghi will make the first move in January and that would put the club in the lead in the race for his signature.

If this is the case then it appears that the Gunners and the Reds could miss out on the signing of Illarramendi to the Italian giants.
