Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier has urged his former club to sign highly-rated French international, Alexandre Lacazette in the summer transfer window.

He has stated that Lacazette can become ‘world class’ with Liverpool reportedly keen on the plsyer, who leads the goal tally in the French top-flight, with 21 goals for Lyon this season.

Houllier, who managed Liverpool from 1998-2004, has said that his former club are doing the right thing by keeping an eye on the forward, and has predicted a bright future for him.

He told Ligue1’s official website: ‘He’s top of the Premier League in France, I mean Ligue 1, but he’s not international [class] yet and he knows that.

‘But he can be world class if he keeps progressing and working on his talent. I was told he’s a very dedicated professional. So if he looks after himself and if he does the right thing, he can become really top notch really.

‘He can become very good. At the moment he’s flirting with the international level, but he’s not a top international yet.’
