West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce is keen to improve his squad by adding five new players.

Allardyce, aged 59 came under a serious amount of pressure as the Hammers retained their Premier League status after a tough season.

The Hammers have already confirmed the signings of Argentine forward Mauro Zarate and Senegal international Cheikhou Kouyate.

And Allardyce is keen to add players to his squad before the big kick off in mid August.

The West Ham boss has identified areas within this squad, in an interview with West Ham TV.

“We’ve made many bids and there are many negotiations ongoing,” he told West Ham TV. “We particularly want a left-back, ideally another centre-back, a midfielder and at least two more for the front line.”
