It’s no secret that Chelsea are looking to sign a back-up striker for Alvaro Morata in the January transfer window, and the Spaniard has recommended a player for the Blues to target.

However, it’s hardly a player that will have fans licking their lips in anticipation if a move were to materialise. According to Don Balon, Morata has asked Chelsea to sign Sandro Ramirez from Everton as his cover option.

Fellow Spaniard Sandro joined Everton in a ÂŁ5million deal from Malaga in the summer, but the 22 year-old has failed to make an impression so far at Goodison Park.

After a poor start, his chances have been limited in recent weeks as the Toffee’s struggles continue. He is yet to score in the Premier League and hasn’t featured in over a month.

A former teammate of Morata for the Spain U21 team, Sandro came through at Barcelona before leaving in search of first team football in 2016.

He ended up joining Malaga, where he enjoyed an excellent debut season. He scored 14 goals last season at La Rosaleda, with Everton winning the race to sign him ahead of Atletico Madrid, Tottenham and Sevilla.

Now it looks as if the Merseyside club are ready to let him go, and if Morata gets his wish he could be heading to Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte is supposedly not convinced by Michy Batshuayi as second choice striker, but on the evidence of his Everton spell, it’s hard to imagine Sandro providing a significant upgrade.
