Italian has revealed he was interested in signing Pole

Former-Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed how he wanted to sign Robert Lewandowski for the Premier League giants.

The Poland international has continued to go from strength to strength since leaving Borussia Dortmund for Bayern Munich, but things could have been different if Ancelotti got his way.

Lewandowski has netted 22 goals in his last 16 games, making him one of the hottest properties in Europe, and Ancelotti has admitted he was desperate to bring him to Chelsea from Dortmund during his stint at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea Missed Out

“He’s a player that I have always followed, particularly in the first part of his career, when he was at Borussia Dortmund,” the 56-year-old told Goal.com.

“Lewandowski was being followed by many clubs, not just me. But even when I was at Chelsea, I was tracking him.

“Also, while I was at Madrid, but by then he was already going to Bayern, so it was too late.”
