Wolfsburg midfielder, Andre Schurrle, has said the reason behind his slow start at his new club is due to lack of game-time at Chelsea.

The German international left The Blues in the January transfer window in a deal worth ÂŁ22million, as he was replaced by Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado.

However, the 24-year-old is yet to impress for his new side and has looked a bit rusty which he has put down to lack of game-time and Chelsea’s approach to fitness recovery.

He told German newspaper Bild: “At top English clubs during the season, the players are hardly loaded with any training, since it’s almost all about regeneration and tactics.

“In England you can get your fitness through the season with the games.

“I’m still missing the last per cent. In January, I almost had no training between the change of clubs because of back problems.”
