Chelsea travel to Azerbaijan on Wednesday knowing that a win away at Qarabag will ensure qualification to the Champions League round of 16.
The Blues were 6-0 winners against the Champions League debutants back in September, but are in for a much harder match this time around according to manager Antonio Conte.
Qarabag drew with last season’s semi-finalists Atletico Madrid both home and away, and Conte has warned his players not to underestimate their opposition ahead of Wednesday’s match.
“We have to play the most important game of the season from the start until now,” Conte told the Chelsea official website ahead of the match.
“If we are able to win against Qarabag, we can go through to the next round of the Champions League and this is very important because this period from now until January is very busy.”
“For sure it won’t be easy because in the last two games they drew twice against Atletico Madrid, and before that they lost the game but Roma were struggling a lot to win against them. We have to be focused, to work and to try to win the game.”
The Blues are currently second in Group C, one point behind Roma after losing 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico earlier in the month. They host Atletico Madrid in their final group match on December 5th.
