Chelsea boss Antonio Conte claimed he was relieved to have gotten through a tough test after being Wolves 2-0 in the FA Cup.
Second half goals from both Pedro and Diego Costa saw the Premier League leaders take the victory from an entertaining fifth round tie at the Molineux, though the hosts certainly did not make it easy for the Blues, who had to work hard in order to progress
Conte said: “Was this our toughest game so far? For sure yes. This challenge was very tough but we knew after the results this afternoon I tried to warn the changing room about the difficulty of this game and the competition.
“In England, in the league, in every competition, it’s very tough. We were very good in the first half because Wolves started very well with great intensity.
“They played on the flanks and got in a lot of crosses. They hit the post after five minutes and we were lucky in the circumstances.
“Then in the second half we play our football and played it well. We scored two goals and had more chances.
“I think Wolverhampton deserve compliments for the performance because they played very well. They showed good organisation, good character and good intensity during the game.”
“They are a really good team who have a top manager who has played the game before. It will need a hell of a team to stop them.
“They are relentless. You look at the team, I thought it might be a tad weaker. It’s going to be one hell of a team to stop them winning both trophies.”
Despite the tough test at the Molineux, Chelsea managed to keep hopes of an FA Cup and Premier League double alive, in only Antonio Conte’s first season in English football, a fact that Chelsea fans will certainly enjoy, while Wolves fans can afford to be proud of their sides spirited performance.
