John Terry could be could be put on the Italian’s backroom staff

Antonio Conte wants to see John Terry given a one-year extension at Chelsea, even if it means the club captain joining his staff in another role.

Terry’s future still remains uncertain with the 35-year-old Captain set to exit Stamford Bridge when his contract expires this summer.

Conte will be stepping down as Italy manager after the Euro 2016 competition and has had talks with The Blues about stepping in as their next manager, taking over from Jose Mourinho’s current replacement Guus Hiddink.

However, Keeping Terry at the club is a priority for Conte and making the centre back a permanent member of the backroom staff is seriously being considered.

It is said Terry would rather prefer to remain as a player and he has recently said he has ‘two or three years’ left in him.

There have even been quite a few calls this week for Terry to be reinstated in the England squad by manager Roy Hodgson. And allowing him to continue playing at Chelsea under Conte also seems to be possibility.

The Italian is believed to be very open to the idea of giving Terry a one-year extension. As Terry’s age is not an issue for the former Juventus manager.
