Arsenal and Liverpool both want to sign Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic and it’s possible with the recent arrival of Coutinho shaking up the squad.

Philippe Coutinho’s £142m move to Barcelona has shaken up the squad dynamics with reports suggesting midfielder Ivan Rakitic is concerned his spot in the team could be jeopardised.

While Coutinho is thought as the successor to Andreas Iniesta at Barca, Rakitic is under the most pressure following the big money signing. However, since Coutinho is not eligible to play in the Champions League, Rakitic will be safe for the remainder of this season.

But the Croatian midfielder is open to a move away from Barcelona at the end of this season and if he loses serious playing time, the 29-year-old could move in the summer.

According to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, Liverpool, Arsenal and Juventus are interested in the creative midfielder.

Both Jurgen Klopp and Arsene Wenger are eyeing the Croatian and are eager to sign him for next season. Arsenal are in need of a creative box to box midfielder with the ability to shoot from afar. While Liverpool are searching for Coutinho’s replacement.

Rakitic will want to stay at Barca at least until after the World Cup ends in July as he feels he will garner more interest from top clubs if he plays well for Croatia.

Rakitic recently spoke rather bluntly about Coutinho’s transfer stating: “My opinion doesn’t matter, but the price has gone a bit high, that’s what the market dictates.”

The Croatian has made 18 appearances for the Catalan giants this season and has made three assists.
