The Gunners are confident of keeping the Chile international at least for another year
Arsenal are desperate to keep hold of Alexis Sanchez and are ready to block a potential move to Man City to ensure that he stays for at least another season.
The forward has been a vital player for the Gunners since his move from Barcelona but the player reportedly wants out of the club in his pursuit to play Champions League football.
Arsenal have missed out on the Champions League this season and with the player publicly asserting his desire to play in the competition, it has led to reports that he wants out of the club.
Rivals Man City are more than willing to take him off Arsene Wenger’s hands but the Frenchman doesn’t want to lose the player at all and especially not to a Premier League rival.
Another season from Sanchez
Even though Sanchez could leave on a free transfer next summer due to his contract expiring at the end of the next campaign, Wenger is willing to block a big money move to Man City this summer (or PSG who are also keeping an eye on him) to ensure they get at least another season of football from him at the Emirates Stadium.
If Arsenal do manage to secure Champions League football next season with Sanchez playing a key role, then the Chile man could then decide to pen a new deal and not look for an exit in next summer’s transfer window.
Man City are likely to continue to try and tempt Arsenal into letting go of one of their key players and they aren’t short of money and will be willing to pay whatever sum of money the Gunners like.
However, it looks likely that Wenger is willing to hold out on selling the player and potentially lose him for absolutely nothing next year.
