Morgan Schneiderlin will soon be an Arsenal player, according to journalist Charlie Wyett

Wyett, who works for the Sun, has told talkSPORT the Southampton man will be joing Arsenal.

Schneiderlin, 25, has been strongly linked with a move away from St. Marys this summer and the Gunners appear to be frontrunners for the France international.

Earlier reports indicated Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had ended his interest in Schneiderlin and was prepared to give Arsenal’s Francis Coquelin more first-team opportunities.

Coquelin has only recently become a central figure at the Emirates; the 24-year-old was on loan at Charlton just six months ago and was called back as injury cover.

However, Wyett believes Schneiderlin could be on his way to North London.

‘I think Morgan Schneiderlin will be joining Arsenal,’ he explained.

‘He would be a good signing along with Petr Cech.’

Wenger wants Cech

There had also been rumours Wenger had cooled his interest in Schneiderlin because he wanted to focus all his efforts on landing Chelsea’s Petr Cech.

The veteran goalkeeper, recently admitted he would not be understudy to Thibaut Courtois and was reported to be joining Besiktas.

Whilst Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is reluctant to lose the 33-year-old he would prefer the Czech international to move to Turkey instead of a Premier League rival.

Cech is also thought to be on Manchester United’s radar with David De Gea believed to be on the verge of completing a big-money move to Real Madrid.
