Arsenal are getting closer to the signing of Granit Xhaka, according to reports.
The Gunners have been eager to sign the 23-year old for a while and it is believed that a deal is getting steadily closer to completion.
Arsene Wenger is desperate to strengthen his midfield this summer and he wants Xhaka to come in and help sort out his problems in the middle of the field.
The Gunners are hopeful that a deal can be done as soon as possible and potentially even agreed before the Euros begin. However, the asking price could be a problem – Arsenal aren’t paying as much as Borussia Monchengladbach want for the midfielder, with Wenger only willing to pay £25m and the German side wanting £35m.
There is hope though that a deal can be agreed with reports claiming the two sides could meet in the middle and agree on a fee of £30m for Xhaka.
The player himself is believed to be willing to move to England, so it shouldn’t be too much trouble for Arsenal trying to convince him to join them.
It means that come next season, we could be seeing the 23-year old plying his trade in the Premier League.
