Arsenal have reportedly held talks with Abdul Rahman Baba’s agent over a move

Real Madrid, Chelsea and now Arsenal are after Baba’s services, according to German newspaper Bild.

Baba was regarded as one of the stand-out players in the Bundesliga last season and several of Europe’s elite teams are keen to prize him away from the SGL arena.

Chelsea did appear to be leading the race after discussing a £11million move but the German side are thought to want closer to £15million for the 20-year-old.

Instead, Blues manager Jose Mourinho will turn his attention to Atletico Madrid’s Toby Alderweireld, who spent last season on loan at Southampton.

However, Baba’s agent Sascha Empacher is thought to have made the journey to London to discuss a possible deal for his client with Arsenal thought to be keen.

Baba is staying put

According to Augsburg general manager Stefan Reuter any sign of an imminent move appears unlikely as he said there has not been any official bids made.

“There is nothing concrete on our table with regard to Abdul Rahman Baba. We are delighted he is playing for our club” said Reuter.

Should Arsenal fail to lure Baba to the Emirates manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly lining up a £11million move for Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam.

The 24-year-old only joined the Naples club in January 2014 but could be an Arsenal player next season alongside striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to Sport Mediaset.
