Arsenal are plotting a move for German youngster Cristoph Kramer, should any deal for Sami Khedira collapse.

Reports in both Germany and Spain suggest that Arsenal view Kramer as a potential target to strengthen their midfield role.

The news comes after Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has recently stated that Khedira is happy in Spain, and is not for sale.

Kramer was part of Germany’s World Cup winning side in the summer, and is valued at around £20 million by Bayer Leverkusen.

His two-year loan at fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Mounchengladbach comes to an end at the conclusion of this season, with Kramer hinting that he would be open to a move abroad.

He said: “That [moving abroad] has always interested me. I would not be afraid.

“I want to find out what my limit is and I always strive for the very best.”
