Holloway claims Arsenal could move for Lookman

The ex-Charlton boss believes the Gunners could be trying to sign Lookman in the summer.

Arsenal could make a bid to sign Ademola Lookman this summer, according to Ian Holloway.

Charlton were condemned to League 1 football next season yesterday and it means that a number of their top stars could be sold on. One of those names expected to be let go is the highly talented Ademola Lookman.

The 18-year old has had a fantastic year with the Addicks and has become one of their best and most talented players. He even picked up the Championship Apprentice of the Year award and he’s certainly caught the eye of some bigger teams up the table.

Tottenham are keen on a move but Ian Holloway believes that Arsenal will be pursuing his signature in the summer and with Arsene Wenger’s side having had a previous interest in the youngster, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they did try and sign him.

Wouldn’t be too cheap

Holloway told Sky Sports: “Lookman is good enough to be picked up by one of the top clubs in the Premier League. He’s going to be a sought-after commodity.

“The vultures will be circling around him. He reminds me of Joel Campbell at Arsenal.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Arsene Wenger is interested.”

He wouldn’t be too cheap, as the 18-year old’s current contract only expires in 2020.

However, the Gunners could still afford to bring him to the Emirates Stadium and although they would face competition from their rivals Spurs, Arsenal and Charlton have done business before and it means that they could be more likely to sell to them.

It would be a huge loss for Charlton if he did leave to join Arsenal as Ian Holloway believes, as the forward is extremely talented and has been a revelation at the club and could help them massively at League 1 level.

But, it is unlikely that he would want to ply his trade at that level if the offer of a move to the Premier League is on the table and Arsenal could be the side that end up securing his signature.
