The Gunners are interested in lining up a deal to bring the highly-rated Serbian winger from Portugal to the Emirates, according to The Mirror.

The signature of Benfica forward Andrija Zivkovic is a priority for Wenger to kick off summer spending spree.

Portuguese media reported Arsenal watched Zivkovic before he moved to Benfica from Partizan Belgrade sent scouts to run the rule over the 21-year-old at the European U21 championship in Poland last summer and officials are believed to have tracked his progress ahead of a possible summer move along with other recruits to mount a title bid next season.

The Serbian youngster struggled to settle in his first season with the Portuguese giants but this term has become an important part of boss Rui Vitoria’s plans. Zivkovic is a versatile attacker who can operate as a winger or as an important central midfield.

Manchester United are also monitoring his situation with scouts at the Stadium of Light last weekend and could go head-to-head with the Gunners this summer for the attacker’s signature.

Arsenal brushed asideEverton at the Emirates on Saturday with new sigings Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Aubameyang scored a goal and a hat-trick of assists for his old Borussia Dortmund team-mate Mkhitaryan on his first start for the Londoners.
