Real Madrid are ready to offer a huge deal for the Sporting Lisbon star
Premier League side Arsenal have been dealt a huge blow in their long-running pursuit of William Carvalho after reports emerged that Real Madrid want to sign him from Sporting Lisbon.
It is reported that the La Liga side are now the firm favourites to win the race for Carvalho.
The official figure is yet to be announced but it is thought it would be more than the £18m that Arsenal were ready to fork out.
Carvalho has been a previous target for Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea, but in recent weeks and months, they’ve turned their attentions elsewhere, with United signing Bastian Schweingsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, and Liverpool bringing in James Milner.
Revamping the midfield
Toni Kroos has been heavily linked with a move away from Madrid over the summer, whilst Sami Khedira has already moved on.
Carvalho impressed in this summer Under 21 European Championships and Rafael Benitez has since been very keen to bring in the player.
Although on the downside, he will miss the first three months of the upcoming season with a stress fracture.
