Gunners in pole-position to land midfielder
Arsenal are close to signing Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to reports.
The Saints star is desperate to leave the club this Summer after his transfer away was blocked last year by Ronald Koeman. After seeing all his team-mates leave, Schneiderlin was desperate for a move away himself, but the new manager blocked any potential move and forced the Frenchman to stay.
After originally being frustrated and angry at the club, the midfielder stay and contributed heavily to their impressive season.
Arsenal Back in for Star
However, after falling short in the race for top-four, the holding-man is now keen on a move away again and wants to secure a Summer switch to Arsenal.
The Gunners were keen on signing Schneiderlin this time last year, but couldn’t agree a deal with Southampton, but it looks like they may have better luck this time around.
Rival Interest
As well as Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur are also interested with Mauricio Pochettino keen on reuniting with the Frenchman, but with Spurs out of the top-four as well, they face an uphill battle in persuading Schneiderlin to join them.
According to reports, Arsenal are in pole position and could finally land the midfielder at the end of the season.
Asking Price
It’s reported that £25million is the asking price Saints have given and it’s just up to whether Arsene Wenger is prepared to pay that much for the 25-year-old.
