Gunners ready to sign Colombian striker

Arsenal have reportedly been given the green-light to sign FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez as the Portuguese side are already on the lookout for suitable replacements.

The Colombian has been one of the most consistent strikers around Europe over the past few seasons, but his loyalty to Porto has kept him at the club and has turned down any chances of moving.

However, now 29-years-old, Martinez is ready for a new challenge in his career before he feels it is too late, and with a ÂŁ29million release clause in his contract, several clubs are reportedly interested.

Premier League Interest

It was reported earlier in the season that both Liverpool and Manchester United were keen on signing the Colombian international, and it’s now suggested that Porto are already in the market for viable replacements.

Liverpool and United are both in need of new strikers this Summer, with The Reds set to sell three of their current forwards and United set to lose two of theirs, but they could face serious competition from Arsenal.

Arsenal Given Go-Ahead

The Gunners currently only have two strikers at the club and Arsene Wenger is keen to add more depth to his side ahead of a potential title-push next season.

It’s believed Arsenal have been given the green-light to sign Martinez and could hold talks with Porto at the end of the season.
