Premier League side favourite to sign AS Roma defender
The Gunners have become the front runners in the £25m pursuit of Alessio Romagnoli.
Reports have emerged that the defender’s proposed move to AC Milan has broken down this week.
And the Serie A side’s television channel has reported that no progress has developed with the deal.

AS Roma are also believed to want around £25million for the U21 star with new Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic understood to have made him a priority signing.
The pair worked together last season at Sampdoria where Romagnoli was on loan.

However lack of serious movement has allowed Arsenal to take control of the move, with the deal thought to be in the works for quite a while.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is thought to be keen to bolster his side’s defence before the end of the transfer period, but paying £25m could prove to be too high a risk.
