Arsenal’s summer clear-out has expanded even further today after the club announced that defender Ignasi Miquel has joined Championship side Leicester City on a season-long-loan for the 2013/2014 campaign.

The former Barcelona youth has been part of the Arsenal reserves for several years now, but has never been able to break into the first-team apart from the occasional performance in the league, but mainly in the Capital One Cup.

In fact, since making his debut back in 2011, Miquel has only managed to make a further 13 first-team appearances for Arsene Wenger and the Frenchman believes competition at the back is too strong for Miquel to be able to break through.

Miquel is now added to the list of departures from the Emirates Stadium as he joins; Andrey Arshavin, Vito Mannone, Sebastian Squillaci, Denilson, Marouane Chamakh, Andre Santos and also Johan Djourou, who have all left the club either permanently or on loan.

On their official website, Arsenal Football Club have wished the Spanish defender all the best for his season in the Championship with Nigel Pearson’s Foxes.
