Arsenal are set to make a bid for Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar, reports the Guardian.
Villa’s Dutch defender Vlaar, aged 29 has impressed during his spell in England to date, so much so, he has been made captain of the Birmingham based club.
The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, will have to try and convince the defender to move to North London, with Villa rating their defender at around £9 million or so.
Arsenal currently only have two centre backs, following the departure of Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona last month for a £15 million fee, and view Vlaar as a cheaper alternative to other targets.
