According to Sky Sources, Arsenal Football Club have made a formal bid of around £17.2million for Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo.

It is believed that the two clubs are in talks about a possible transfer as the Brazilian midfielder is keen to leave Munich in order to get game-time ahead of next year’s World Cup which is to be held in his home country of Brazil.

New Munich boss Pep Guardiola has wasted no time building his own-look team at the Allianz Arena and it is clear that Gustavo is not in his first-team plans.

The Premier League outfit have been on the look out for a new holding midfielder and after months of speculation and name-dropping, it finally looks like Arsene Wenger has set his sights on Gustavo.

It was reported that Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg were close to signing the Brazilian, but he has made it clear that he wants to move to a team that is competing in the Champions League.

Despite the offer being made and the talks ongoing, a deal is not in place in concret yet as many teams around Europe are interested in the Munich midfielder according to their CEO.

Bayern’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said: “Luiz has offers from England, Spain, Russia and Germany. The player has not made a decision yet.”
