Arsenal are set to sign Villarreal centre-back, Gabriel Paulista, after agreeing to meet his release clause.

The Gunners are willing to pay £15.2million in order to sign the Brazilian and according to Spanish media, the offer has been lodged and due to it being in his contract, it has to be accepted.

When asked about Paulista’s future, Villarreal boss admitted that he isn’t involved in the deal but if it does take place, he wishes the defender the best at Arsenal.

Marcelino admitted: ‘I’m not involved in the sale of Gabriel, it’s bad news from a sporting point of view.

‘But if both Gabriel and the club believe that a sale to Arsenal is what’s best for everyone, I accept it.’

According to reports in Spain, the deal could be signed off later today and Arsenal could TRIPLE the defender’s current weekly-wage.
