Winger ended up at Liverpool

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he missed out on the chance to sign Raheem Sterling five years ago before he joined Liverpool.

The England international is now at Manchester City, who Arsenal face at the Emirates Stadium on Monday, after he completed his ÂŁ50million move from Liverpool over the summer.

Sterling is far from the finished article, but he has scored some vital goals this season for City, including a hat-trick against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s massive clash, Wenger has admitted that he missed out on the chance to sign the City winger back in 2010.

Wenger Talks Sterling

He said: “We had many players on the flanks, but Sterling was at QPR – that’s where we should take the players.

“We watched him but you miss obvious players.

“The history of every club is full of top players that you missed. At the time Liverpool were quicker.”
