Replacing a player who was your captain and your top goalscorer is no easy job for anyone, yet alone for someone who has just signed for the club and has no premiership experience. This is what many people are saying Olivier Giroud has to do at Arsenal after seeing their talisman from last season, Robin Van Persie, leave the club for arch-rivals, Manchester United. However, the French striker, who was signed from French champions, Montpellier in the summer has insisted he is not at Arsenal to replace the ex-captain.

Olivier Giroud is confident that he will win over the Arsenal fans even though he has had a goal-shy first three games for the club, including two starts out of the three. He has said that everywhere he has gone he has needed time to adapt and that is exactly what he needs to make an impact in the Premier league.

The Frenchman said: ‘I’m a level headed person who needs something to aim for to move forward, but I haven’t given myself the task of replacing Van Persie,’ he added

‘I want to take my place, win over the Arsenal fans in my own way.’
