Arsenal are reportedly set to pay Valencia full back Jose Luis Gaya’s £13.5 million release clause.
Gaya would become Arsene Wenger’s third January signing, and a third defender to boot, along with Krystian Beilik and Gabriel Paulista.
The Gunners face competition from Real Madrid, who have also been linked with the Spanish under 21 international.
The 19 year old has only missed one league game for Valencia this season, and has contributed two goals.
Arsenal have been busy on the last two deadline days.
Danny Welbeck was a deal that came through very late in the summer, whilst Kim Kallstrom signed last January in the nick of time.
