Arsenal are desperate to beat Liverpool to the signing of Real Madrid midfielder, Asier Illarramendi, according to reports.
The midfield star has struggled to cement a first-team place at the Bernabeu and is expected to leave the club in the Summer, with both Premier League sides interested in signing the 24-year-old.
The Spaniard has failed to impress during his time at Madrid and is ready to quit the club at the end of the season, and it’s believed that Arsenal are favourites to sign him.
According to reports, Liverpool are keen on signing the midfielder for around £17million, but Arsenal are desperate to beat their English rivals.
Illarramendi snubbed a move to Athletic Bilbao earlier this month in order to hold out for a move to England at the end of this season.
