Gunners want length of ban reduced

Arsenal Football Club will appeal Gabriel Paulista’s red-card in the hope they can get the length of the ban shortened.

The Brazilian centre-back will miss three-games after being sent off against Chelsea on Saturday for kicking out at striker Diego Costa, but Arsene Wenger feels a three-game ban is unfair considering what took place at Stamford Bridge.

Costa and Laurent Koscielny initially got involved in a tussle with each other before Gabriel got involved and eventually got dismissed for his actions.

However, Wenger feels a three-game ban is an unfair evaluation of the incident.

Previous Shortened Bans

Arsenal believe the FA shortening Nemanja Matic‘s red-card last season from three games to two games when he reacted to a bad tackle from Burnley‘s Ashley Barnes could help their case.

Chelsea also had a ban shortened after Cesc Fabregas was sent off for kicking the ball at a West Bromwich Albion player at the end of last season.

The Spaniard initially received a three-match ban, but got it reduced to just one.

Arsenal don’t expect the ban to be lifted, but they do want the length of it shortened.
