Arsenal step-up Draxler interest

Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Julian Draxler after sending scouts to watch the German recently. According to the Sunday People, Arsene Wenger sent scouts to watch him play for his club against Maribor in the Champions League in midweek.

The 21-year old nearly left a lasting impression as he nearly scored a winner late on, only to have his close-range chance saved. Despite not scoring, it looks like he still impressed the scouts, as the Gunners are preparing to take their interest in the playmaker to the next level.

The news of this interest comes after the midfielder recently admitted he didn’t feel he was good enough to move to the likes of Arsenal or Liverpool after a difficult season for Schalke last season. But clearly Wenger believes otherwise, as the Arsenal boss has now stepped up his interest in him.

Draxler has a ÂŁ37m buy-out clause in his contract and the Gunners could very well meet that clause in the next transfer window to try and finally capture the German’s signature.
