Arsenal to compete with European giants for ‘next Dennis Bergkamp’

Arsenal will go head to head with the likes of AS Monaco, Barcelona FC, and Borussia Dortmund to sign Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg next summer, according to reports in the Daily Express.

The 20 year-old striker has been hailed as ‘the next Dennis Bergkamp’, and would be a good option for the Gunners to replace Alexis Sanchez who looks set to leave on a free transfer.

Arsene Wenger is said to be a long term admirer of Danish international Dolberg, who is widely regarded as one of the best upcoming talents in European football.

Last season he scored 23 times as Ajax reached the final of Europa League, although this season he has strangely only started 3 league games under new manager Marcel Keizer.

With the Dutch side not in Europe this season as well, Dolberg may feel that it is the time to leave and find a bigger stage to showcase his talents.

Many have compared him to Dennis Bergkamp due to his deft first touch and classy finishing ability, which has earned interest from a number of other top clubs as well.

There are rumours in the English press that another former Gunner and current Ajax director of football Marc Overmars could return to North London in a similar capacity, and that he would be keen to bring Dolberg with him.

The contract situation with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil continues with no resolution in sight, so Arsene Wenger will no doubt be looking for attacking reinforcements.
