Arsenal are preparing a £15.8m bid to test Shakhtar Donetsk’s resolve over Douglas Costa. The play-maker is unsettled at the club and he is currently refusing to return to Ukraine ahead of the new season due to the current political unrest in the country.
He has asked for a transfer away from the club, only for Shakhtar to insist he will be staying and must return. However, Arsenal are willing to test the club’s resolve and offer the 23-year old an escape route, with a £15.2m(20 million euro) bid. The Gunners are hoping that the amount will be enough to get Donetsk to change their mind about Costa and let him leave.
Shakhtar are well-known to be tough negotiators but in this instance Arsene wenger has the upper hand as not only is he offering a decent amount of money, but the player himself is pushing for a move away. Man United could also be tempted into a bid for the attacker because of this ongoing situation.
