Arsenal boss believes striker is worth ÂŁ10million

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes AFC Bournemouth haven’t paid over the odds for Wolves striker Benik Afobe.

The Cherries wrapped up a deal for the striker yesterday after the two clubs agreed on a fee believed to be around ÂŁ10million.

Afobe started his career in North London with the Gunners, but after failing to break into the first-team, Wenger finally decided to let him go and agreed a permanent deal with Championship side Wolves.

Speaking about the transfer which sees Afobe return to the Premier League, Wenger has admitted that he isn’t surprised by the move and he knew the striker would be a success after leaving the Emirates.

Wenger Praises Afobe

“I don’t know how well he’ll do at Bournemouth, but he has the qualities to integrate at a team like Bournemouth,” Wenger said.

“I’m very pleased he has done well; he had an outstanding attitude here and I hope he does well there.

“I’m very happy because we have contributed to his success.

“And the fee? I believe it’s a normal price. £10million is not excessive.

“He’s scored the goals in the lower league. The risk is not too much.”
