Paris Saint-Germain defender was wanted by Liverpool

Serie A side AS Roma have reportedly entered the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain full-back Lucas Digne after the star’s agent revealed he was denied the chance to speak to Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers was desperate to land the PSG defender in order to add depth and competition at the full-back position, but according to Digne‘s agent, he wasn’t allowed to hold talks with the Premier League outfit.

Despite not allowing the 22-year-old to speak to Liverpool, the Ligue 1 champions are willing to discuss with Roma and could strike a deal next week.

Loan-Move to Roma

According to reports, officials from Roma are flying over to Paris over the weekend in order to discuss a potential deal.

It’s believed the initial transfer will be a loan-move for the 2015/2016 season, but that temporary move could be made permanent the following summer.

Digne wants out of PSG after another season spent on the sidelines due to competition for places, and a loan move to Roma could suit both parties.

However, the news will frustrate Liverpool and Rodgers who are admirers of the young defender.
