Aston Villa seek to loan Marc Albrighton

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is tempted to send winger Marc Albrighton out on loan in order to play first-team football on a regular basis.

Before Lambert was at the club, Albrighton looked like a promising talent, but due to a serious injury last season, he was unable to fulfill that promise.

It is now important for the winger to establish himself in a first-team and the Villa boss has been honest to him, admitting that chances are limited for him at Villa Park.

Several Championship clubs have expressed their interest in the Villa-man and as the loan-market is always open, Lambert is looking to send him out for the season in order to gain experience.

“He’s been unfortunate, Marc,” Lambert told the Birmingham Mail.

“He missed nearly a whole season, he’s still really short (of match fitness).

“If something comes up and I think it’s right I’ll look at it. If I don’t he’ll stay here.

“He possibly needs a good run, he needs to stay injury free. He missed most of last year and even in pre-season he missed games.

“He needs that run where he does not break down.

“It’s a big year but he will help himself. It’s unfair as he has missed a lot of game time.”
