Could this actually happen?
Barcelona are keen on replacing midfield legend Andres Iniesta with Real Madrid star Isco, according to reports.
The midfielder is going through a difficult contract situation at the moment, and the Catalans could make a move for a free transfer when his current deal expires in 2018.
They see him as a direct replacement for the aging Iniesta, and will promise him that he will get playing time once Iniesta decides to hang up his boots.
Isco has only started 11 games for Real Madrid this season, and has previously revealed he is concerned about the lack of playing time he’s getting.
Even manager Zinedine Zidane has admitted that Isco deserves more time on the pitch.
‘There is no doubt that Isco and [Alvaro] Morata deserve to get more minutes,’ the Madrid boss said, following his team’s 3-2 victory over Villarreal on Sunday,
‘They did very well and changed the game for us. I’m certain that we will need to call on the whole squad.’
Last week, Jordi Alba fuelled speculation even further by admitting that Isco would be a welcome signing at Barcelona.
‘All good players are welcome,’ Alba told Mundo Deportivo.
‘I have an appreciation for Isco. I know him from when we were at Valencia together and I know that he has a lot of quality.
‘Anything else, time will tell.’
