Barcelona reportedly agree January exit for two first-team stars

Javier Mascherano and Gerard Deulofeu are set for a departure from Barcelona in January, if reports in Spanish news outlets AS and Sport are to be believed.

While Mascherano has opted for a move to the Chinese Super League club Hebei Fortune, Deulofeu could be closing in on a loan deal that will see him head to Napoli until the end of the 2017-18 season.

The combination of Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti, coupled with the menace of injuries, has made it difficult for Mascherano to find regular game time, despite having signed a contract with the club till 2019 last summer.

Although he preferred a move back to River Plate, the current value of peso has forced Mascherano to pursue a move to China, with Hebei Fortune having reported to be offering him a €7 million.

Barcelona now hope to replace Mascherano with Palmeiras’ young centre-back Yerry Mina.
