Spanish champions to cast eye over playmaker

Barcelona are thought to be sending a scout to watch Liverpool’s Phillipe Coutinho in Villarreal tonight.

Coutinho has excelled at Anfield since moving there in 2013, and has been their key man this season under new manager Jurgen Klopp, as his team aim for Europa League glory.

Liverpool take a trip to Spain tonight to play Villarreal in the first leg of the semi, and Barcelona will be sending their sporting director Roberto Fernandez to watch Coutinho.

Catalan newspaper SPORT has reported that Barca will be there to watch him in person at the Madrigal, but he isn’t the only player catching Robert’s eye.

The Barca sporting director is also monitoring 22-year-old Eric Bailly as the club searches for a central defender.

And the game will give Robert another chance to assess Denis Suarez, who will return to the Nou Camp club this summer when Barcelona activate his €3million buyback clause.
