- Match Analysis
FC Barcelona are preparing another big for Liverpool playmaker and long term target Philippe Coutinho, and will reportedly offer players in part exchange as they try and convince the Reds to sell.
According to Don Balon, the Blaugrana will offer Andre Gomes to the Anfield club in an attempt to lure Coutinho to Catalonia in January.
So far, Liverpool have been unwilling to budge and rejected all of the offers Barca made back in the summer. However, this doesn’t seemed to have deterred them from pursuing their interest.
It would most likely take a sizeable fee in addition to Gomes to force the Reds’ hand, given that Coutinho is their star man and an idol to the fans on Merseyside.
The player has made his desire to leave clear though, and in modern football, player power can never be underestimated. Should he move in the winter he will be cup-tied for the Champions League.
Gomes has yet to fully convince following his move from Valencia in 2016. Barcelona paid €35million to secure his signature, but he has never been a regular and now it looks as if they are willing to cut their losses.
Meanwhile, Coutinho will be in action for Brazil on Tuesday night against England at Wembley. Read our match predictions, England vs Brazil head-to-head record, Brazil predicted XI and live stream here.
