German legend offered move to MLS
Manchester United outcast Bastian Schweinsteiger has been offered a route out of the club by MLS commissioner Don Garber.
The German midfielder has been frozen out by Jose Mourinho and is being forced to train with the reserves. He hasn’t featured for United this season and is likely to leave the club in January, and the MLS chief admits he would welcome the midfielder ‘with open arms’.
‘Of course we follow Bastian’s situation,’ Garber told Kicker.
‘He’s an old acquaintance in the United States, for example through the 2014 World Cup, when he played against the U.S. team. He also played against the MLS All-Stars with Bayern in 2014.
‘We would welcome Bastian with open arms. He would be a leader for our many young players.’
