Real Madrid star James Rodriguez has told Bayern Munich, where he is on loan, that he’ll leave in the summer to join Liverpool.

James Rodriguez joined Bayern Munich last summer on loan from Real Madrid in order to get more playing time. And now, the Colombian has reportedly told Bayern Munich that he would like to cut short his two-year loan spell and join Liverpool in the summer.

The 26-year-old was not getting enough playing time under current Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and opted to join Bayern Munich on loan this season.

Spanish outlet Diario Gol have claimed that Rodriguez wants to join Liverpool next summer.

Liverpool manager has been coy when asked if he intends on using the money from the ÂŁ142m sale of Philippe Coutinho but there’s no doubt that the Reds will want to replace him at some point.

The report also claims that Klopp has put Rodriguez on his primary transfer targets for next season.

However, other reports also suggest that Real Madrid could cut Rodriguez’ loan spell short and recall him at the end of this season as Zinedine Zidane could be on his way out.

Rodriguez burst onto the world football scene after an impressive display for Colombia at the 2014 World Cup where he won the Golden Boot. Real Madrid became interested and signed him for £63m from AS Monaco, making him the most expensive Colombian footballer ever.

However things went downhill from there and Rodriguez ultimately lost his place in the team when Zinedine Zidane took over as manager. To his credit though, he has manged to replicate some of the form he showed at the 2014 World Cup.

The Colombian has scored three goals and made six assists in 14 appearances in the Bundesliga for Bayern this season. He is under contract at Real Madrid until  June, 2019.
