Chelsea and Liverpool target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has signed a contract extension for Borussia Dortmund which rules out him as a possible signing in January.

Chelsea and Liverpool identified the Gabonese striker as a possible signing given that he did not get along with coach Peter Bosz. But now, the coach has been sacked and new coach Peter Stoger has entered the fray.

The 28-year-old is recognized as one of the top strikers in the Bundesliga and in Europe with his lightning quick pace and his lethal finishing. He has scored 98 goals in 143 appearances since joining Dortmund from Saint-Etienne in 2013.

And after his falling out with the former coach, sporting director Michael Zorc has confirmed that Aubameyang has signed a new deal with the club, which includes a pay rise, which keeps him there to 2021.

Zorc did admit however that Aubameyang would likely leave the club eventually, however at 28-years-old, Aubameyang is running out of time to secure his dream move.

‘The contract runs through to ’21. That’s still a long way away,’  Zorc said.

“One day, he will certainly leave Borussia Dortmund — he won’t end his career here. He’s an extremely important player for us, and we continue to plan with him.”

And the player himself has confirmed it on social media.

Aubameyang has given Zorc a bit of a headache lately though given his repeated lateness for training and disciplinary issues.

“We have only one problem with him – that is punctuality. We have to be very clear about that”, Zorc said.
