Championship side Bolton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of former Chelsea forward Eidur Gudjohnsen until the end of the current season.

Gudjohnsen, aged 36, has agreed a deal at the Macron Stadium having previously trained with the club as a free agent, following his release from Belgian side Club Brugge in the summer.

The Iceland international re-joins the club for whom he signed for in the summer of 1998 from KR Reykjavik, remaining at Bolton for a further two years, before signing for Chelsea in a ÂŁ4 million transfer fee in 2000.

Gudjohnsen spent six years in West London, helping the Blues to two Premier League titles, making 186 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 54 goals in a fruitful spell at Stamford Bridge, before he left for Barcelona in 2006.

In his three year stint at the Nou Camp, he won five titles, including a La Liga, Champions League, and Copa Del Rey winners medals.

The experienced striker has also played for Monaco, Tottenham, Stoke, Fulham, AEK Athens and Cercle Brugge.

He is expected to make his second debut for Bolton in Saturday’s Championship game away at Reading.
