Arsenal and Manchester United look set to miss out on transfer target Matthias Ginter, with German club Borussia Dortmund closing in on Freiburg’s talented defender.
Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Ginter last summer, however, as the transfer window drew to a close, Freiburg made it clear the weren’t selling. Manchester United stepped up their interest in the 20 year old since ex-manager David Moyes went to watch Ginter in action at the start of March.
United were considered favourites to sign the player, after he told reporters he wanted a move to a ‘big club’. However, the managerial turmoil at the club seems to have ruled them out of the race, and it is now believed that Dortmund will beat Arsenal to the signature in the summer.
