Dortmund looking to steal back playmaker
Borussia Dortmund currently lead the race to re-sign Bayern Munich playmaker Mario Gotze.
Gotze moved from Dortmund to Bayern in 2013, but has struggled to establish a starting place for the German champions. For weeks, he’s been linked with a move to Liverpool to play under former manager Jurgen Klopp once again, but it now appears that Dortmund are back in for him.
According to German daily Bild, Dortmund currently have the advantage in the race due to the fact that they have qualified for next season’s Champions League with their second place finish in the Bundesliga.
However, if Liverpool win the Europa League on Wednesday, they too will have Champions League football next season, which could change the picture.
And so the Reds’ chances of winning the race for the Germany international may well hinge on whether they can put Sevilla to the sword in Basel.
