Another blow to Spurs’ title hopes

Deli Alli has been given a 3 match ban by the FA for misconduct after he punched West Brom’s Claudio Yacob.

Alli was involved in the incident on Monday night during Spurs’ 1-1 draw with the Baggies, and accepted the charge with no resistance, however did claim that a standard penalty of 3 matches would be ‘a bit excessive’.

This claim, however, was rejected following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing on Thursday.

It’s disappointing for both the club and the player himself, with Spurs still mathematically in with a shout of winning the title this season if Leicester falter, and Alli himself picking up the ban less than a week after winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
