Breaking: Antoine Griezmann gives January transfer update
Antoine Griezmann’s name continues to dominate the sports pages of the English press, and today the Frenchman has given an update about his future ahead of the January transfer window.
Manchester United came close to signing Griezmann in the summer, but he opted to stay loyal to Atletico Madrid due to their transfer ban as it meant they wouldn’t have been able to sign a replacement had he left.
So far his decision looks to have backfired. He is seven games without a goal and Atletico look to be heading out of the Champions League. However, the 26 year-old says that he has no regrets.
“I do not regret having stayed at Atletico. It was my choice, I’m happy and even though I have gone seven games without scoring. I will score again soon.” he was quoted in MARCA today.
Griezmann was also asked whether he would consider a move in January. However, unfortunately for United fans it seems that will stay put until the end of the season at least.
“Will I leave in January? No.” he insisted. “In addition, Diego Costa and Vitolo will come, so the team will be able to keep fighting at a high level. These two reinforcements will do us good.”
“I have not spoken to the president about leaving Atletico.”
